School Resources
Communities in Schools
Kealing is fortunate to be one of the 39 campuses in Austin ISD to have Communities in Schools (CIS) on our campus. CIS is a supportive services and enrichment program for students at Kealing Middle School. Located in room 214A, CIS provides individual and group counseling around issues such as trauma, anger, depression, relationship issues and social skills. Through the AmeriCorps program CIS is able to provide intensive mentoring services as well. CIS also partners with Lifeworks, Safeplace and Girls Empowerment Network to bring in additional group counseling resources. CIS can also help with basic needs assistance such as school supplies and community resource referrals. To receive support from CIS, student are generally referred by a school staff member. They do have a limit to the amount of students they are able to serve. If you are wondering if your student would be a good candidate for CIS, please contact Amber Hill at 512-841-1180 for more information. or your grade level counselor.
Parent Support Specialist
The guidance department works closely with our parent support specialist Dee Gonzales. Ms. Gonzales is truly vital to our campus and serves in many roles. She coordinates parent workshops, facilitates leadership development and makes referrals to area resources for Kealing families. If family's are in need of essentials, like food and clothing, she helps get those necessities. She conducts outreach to families through phone calls and home visits. She also coordinates volunteers and mentors to assist our campus. Ms. Gonzales can also often be found translating at meetings for Spanish speaking parents.
If you feel like you need support from her, please contact her at [email protected] or at (512) 414-6700.
