Parents are often so busy taking care of the needs of others that their needs often come in dead last on the to do list.
Our Social Emotional Learning (SEL) team passed along a few great resources that we thought would be useful to parents as well. Check out the assessment to see which area of your life needs the most attention; Read through the Ideas for Self Care and see if there is anything you can add to your practice;
The McCallum Vertical Team is pleased to present the documentary Screenagers.
In the award winning documentary SCREENAGERS, physician and filmmaker Delaney Ruston takes a deeply personal approach as she probes into the vulnerable corners of family life, including her own, to explore struggles over social media, video games, academics and internet addiction. Through poignant, and unexpectedly funny stories, along with surprising insights from authors, psychologists, and brain scientists, SCREENAGERS reveals how tech time impacts kids’ development and offers solutions on how adults can empower kids to best navigate the digital world and find balance.
The film will be shown at the McCallum Theater on October 23rd at 5:30 and again at 7pm. It is open to all parents of students who attend McCallum, Kealing, Lamar and all feeder elementary schools. Parents are encouraged to bring their students aged 10 and up. Because the MAC Theater has limited seating, we're asking that secondary school students and parents attend the 7pm showing and that elementary school parents and older elementary students attend the earlier showing. Of course if this isn't possible for your family, either showing is open.
Below is a link to the Screenager's Website which has a movie trailer as well as useful tools to help you and your student navigate digital life.
