Pick up your application to be a teacher assistant to one of your teachers or an office aide in one of the offices! TA and Office Aide applications will be available at the end of the day 8/22 in the PROGRAM OFFICE. They are due asap. The last accepted TA/OA applications will be 8/31.
You have to be a 7th or 8th grader to be a TA or Office Aide. You would give up one of your electives in order to become a TA or office aide. TA's assist teachers in organization, possibly grading and any other ask a teacher needs help with. An office aide runs errands for the office; like walking passes to classes to retrieve students and making deliveries to classrooms. TA's & Office Aides must be responsible and have little to no discipline issues. Elective change forms will be available on Monday, August 28th and will be due 8/31. Only lateral elective changes will be made. For example, if you want to change your 3rd period you must look for an elective available during 3rd period. On the 28th, there will be a posters by the main hallway detailing which elective has space available. Remember, there must be space in a class in order to be put in the class. Please also note that some electives have prerequisites that you must meet to be enrolled in the class. NO Yearlong elective changes will be honored. We try our best to honor the elective requests in the order which they are received. We will be making changes until September 8th and we will notify you if we were unable to fulfill your request. All new incoming students are encouraged to come to transition activities here at Kealing! Get to know our staff and our building before you get to campus on the first day. Complete the choice sheet and bring it on April 3rd with a parent signature. Bowie High School counselors will be coming to Kealing to enter students final choices electronically on April 3rd. It is important for students to go over the course book to select electives carefully. When selecting yearlong courses, please be sure that you want to remain in that course the whole year. You will not be allowed to switch out of yearlong electives, especially fine arts courses and AVID. Please visit the website for course offerings: http://www.kealingmiddleschool.org/students/course-descriptions-choice-sheets Parents, please go over the choice sheet with your student carefully and sign it. Each student should return the choice to their grade level counselor, Mr. Aparicio (6th) & Ms. Roland (7th), or the they can submit their choice sheet to a box in the program office.
